2010 FIFA World Cup will provide opportunities for Mpumalanga

The Mpumalanga provincial government is confident that more jobs will be
created in the first quarter of next year due to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

During a media briefing by the department, MEC Mr JL Mahlangu said:
"government agrees that it the recession has been difficult, but thanks
to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the situation is not as bad in South Africa.
Billions of rands have been invested in the country for us to be able to
host world cup."

In order to promote the province, particularly Mbombela in the context
of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, The Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA)
will take along nine small, medium and micro-enterprise (SMMEs) to
Milan, Italy on an investment promotion mission. This was revealed by
the Chief Executive Officer of MEGA, Ms Nosizwe Nokwe during the media
briefing.

The briefing was attended by departmental senior managers, chief
executive officers of departmental parastatals and executive officers of
Mpumalanga flagship projects.
